He should've tried to keep up with the others, he thought: he and the rest of the company were on their way out of this Emperor-forsaken valley, but he just had to go investigate the glint in the bushes. "Don't wander off", Cornelius had said- "you might get left behind!".

He should have listened. But no- he went and investigated, and found a strange, translucent stone. It glowed with a strange energy, and seemed to whisper to him as he scooped it up. Perhaps it's some sort of Eldar artifact, he wondered- he'd heard reports of an Eldar witch- a "farseer" as they were called- being slain nearby, by the hands of a lone Kasrkin. Eldar had a tendency to keep a gem on their person at all times- perhaps this was the one she had carried before meeting her end?

Then it flew from his hand, suddenly plunging into his chest and anchoring itself into his flesh. He tried to pull it out, but soon he found himself covered in some alien material- flexible and fluid, but that solidified around his body harder than plasteel. It soon engulfed his entirety, enveloping his head and bringing his body into a rigid pose.

The sensation from there was like... well, he couldn't describe it. Like liquid lead seeping into his pores, like the hard shell that surrounded him dissolving into him. He gasped for air, the shell encasing his head having disappeared. He prepared to make a dash back to the company, before being overcome with a foreign feeling- An unspoken sort of despair lingered within his mind. Was it despair? It was hard to tell- the emotions and sensations he felt were unlike ever he'd known before. A feeling of awareness, like a million eyes of his own opening throughout the galaxy, and... perfection. Yes, like some great wrong had just been righted, like some sort of filth had been triumphantly washed away.

Then he looked down.

How could this happen? What sort of Eldar trickery was this? What mattered now was, what would he do? Surely if he- she- returned to her company, they'd mistake her for some Xeno witch and kill her outright. Perhaps the Eldar, wherever they were, could have some kind of way out of this? She clutched her scalp, attempting to conceive some means of solving all this. Her thoughts flowed freely, and with previously unknown efficiency, but... somehow, she found herself distracted. Someone was there, within her, silently watching.

She got the feeling it had plans for her.
